With a uniquely exquisite, sweet and warm floral aroma, Tuberose Absolute remains one of the most coveted (and expensive) oils in modern natural perfumery. Tuberose is well-known to every Levantine home and used in their weddings. The extraction of Tuberose is known among aromatherapists to be anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, hydrating, and stimulating. With stress-relieving and aphrodisiac properties, this flower is loved and desired around the world.
Suggested Uses:
Aromatherapy: Emotionally, it is said that Tuberose Absolute is an aphrodisiacs and may help with impotence or frigidity. Its aroma is sensual and can be a beautiful addition to blends intended for relaxation, sensuality and/or romance. Valerie Ann Worwood indicates that Tuberose Absolute can be useful in promoting assertiveness, confidence, performance, self-esteem and self-image. She also mentions that it may be helpful when trying to combat addiction to drugs, in soothing aggression and calming anger. [Valerie Ann Worwood, The Fragrant Mind (Novato, CA: New World Library, 1996, 229, 236.]
Cosmetics: The active ingredients responsible for Tuberose’s intoxicating fragrance are Eugenol, Nerol, Farnesol, and Geraniol, however, the superior aromatic and therapeutic values lie in the original synergistic relationship between the various particles within the plant itself. Eugenol and nerol have antiseptic properties and protect the skin from infections. Farnesol promotes collagen regeneration and provides elastin for better skin elasticity and smoothness.
Perfumery: The overwhelming fragrance of the tuberose has been distilled for use in perfumery since the 17th century when the flower was first transported to Europe. French Queen Marie Antoinette used a perfume called Sillage de la Reine, also called Parfum de Trianon, containing tuberose, orange blossom, sandalwood, jasmine, iris and cedar. It remains a popular floral note for perfumes, either in stand-alone Tuberose fragrances or mixed floral scents, but it generally must be used in moderation because the essence is overpowering and can become sickly to the wearer.
Diffusers: Added to a diffuser, the essence of Tuberose imparts a rich, enticing fragrant character to stir up the hedonistic energies in a room. You can enjoy its passionate personality either on its own or you can combine it with sprightly citrus oils to boost positive and energetic feelings. Diffusing with other fragrant florals such as Rose or Ylang-Ylang will help you tune into your romantic side, while an evening diffusion with Lavender, Chamomile, or Frankincense will help impart a sense of calm to encourage relaxation and a good night's sleep.
Other uses around the world: While once associated with funerals, it is now used in floral arrangements for other occasions especially weddings. In Indonesia, tuberose flowers are also used in cooking. However, we don’t advise using this absolute oil in the cooking of course.
Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes. If pregnant or lactating, consult your healthcare practitioner before using. Not for internal use.
Extraction Method: Solvent Extracted from Tuberose petals.
